The fee for the 8 sessions will be £48 or £10 for each individual session.*

Four of the workshops will be our usual taught sessions.

This term, our popular and experienced tutors will be Louise (Acrylic painting techniques) and Di (Ink washout techniques).

The other four sessions will be more informal, giving you the opportunity to work
on your own chosen projects but in a creative, supportive, social environment.
You could carry out your own work, or work in a medium of your choice on
a still life which will be set up each week.

The kitchen will be available for members to make themselves a drink at half time, tea, coffee etc will be provided free of charge.  Many of you have requested we offer such social sessions, so we hope these will be successful.

BEGINNER/IMPROVER WORKSHOPS IN APRIL.

In response to some enquiries we are running three workshops for beginners/improvers in April.

These will be Tuesdays April 4th April 18th and April 25th at St. Stephens Church Hall 2.15pm until 4.15pm with tutor Lesley Smith.

Lesley will be looking at the basics of watercolour with an emphasis on learning techniques rather than producing a painting.

This course is aimed at beginners, but improvers can also benefit.

The first week we will discuss what you want to learn and what you find difficult.

You will be given information about the equipment, Lesley will demonstrate techniques and there will be plenty of time for you to try them yourself.

For those with some knowledge of watercolour these will refresh your knowledge of the medium and might encourage you to revisit or brush up your techniques, so don’t think it’s not for you.

Please bring a tube of burnt umber and your usual watercolour paints to the first session and at least one decent paint brush (size 4 if possible to start) that points well, also some watercolour paper, HB pencil, rubber, sharpeners, old rag or kitchen towel, 2 water containers, one for clean water one for dirty. Some masking tape and a drawing board will also be useful to save stretching your watercolour paper .

Colour mixing and use of other techniques will follow in the two subsequent sessions. . You may want to bring a notebook, however, Lesley is happy for you to video her or take a voice recording if that helps you.

Interested members should book with Elaine. These sessions may suit relatives or friends who would be very welcome and they too should be directed to Elaine so that numbers are known.

Fees, payable at the first session, will be £25 for all 3 lessons for members, £37 for non members.

Looking ahead…

EXHIBITIONS   – Dates for 2023

Spring Exhibition in the Studio of the DLWP  27th – 29th May 2023.

(We alternate August/May dates each year with BAS.)

Details will be issued in the April newsletter – format similar to the last exhibition at the DLWP.

One Day Summer Table Exhibition/Table Sale.

We hope to hold this one Friday at the Bexhill Sailing Club again.

Autumn Craft Fair – (Table Sale) will be Saturday 4th November at the DLWP

Possible Anniversary Exhibition.

2023 will mark the 25th year since BAW was formed and it is hoped that we will have a celebration of all that has been achieved over the years.  The form of the exhibition would depend on the material we are able to amass.

We would be very grateful for the copies of any photographs, newsletters, exhibition catalogues etc that could be added to the archive which we have been collecting.  If you would like to write about any specific memories of events please let Elaine have any contributions.

If you bank on line the Treasurer would prefer payments by the BACS system.
